Cheerleaders Advance to State Finals

Squad will vie against the state's best for the first time in 13 years.

For the first time in 13 years, Holliston High's cheerleading squad will advance to the state championships.

Coach Carrie Klimeczko credits the success of the squad to remarkable determination from its members, led by a talented group of seniors.

"We have a very special group of seniors, eight of them. They set the goals and have driven our success," Klimeczko said.

At the upcoming competition at Shrewsbury High on Sunday, the 16 girls will be judged on criteria including stunts, pyramids, gymnastics and overall enthusiasm. If they score high enough, they could move on to compete in a national contest.

"This year is kind of the perfect storm of hard work, talent and dedication," Klimeczko said.
