EEE Threat Lifted

The health department is advising it's OK to resume outdoor activity after dusk.

According to a press release from the Hopkinton Board of Health, Friday night's low temperatures were enough to kill off many potentially dangerous mosquitoes.

"The risk from mosquito-borne illness in Town has been almost eliminated. Based on this information the Hopkinton Board of Health has determined that the ban on all organized evening outdoor events or activities on public properties is no longer necessary and as of today, Oct. 16, has removed this restriction," Health Director Ed Wirtanen said.

The football game that had been scheduled for the night of the freeze, Oct. 12, was one of the activities that had to be rescheduled. The Hillers played Norton at home Saturday afternoon.
