Garden Club Plant Sale Supports Town Plantings

On Saturday, May 19th from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., the Hopkinton Garden Club will host its annual Plant Sale on the Town Common. Offering perennials from Club member’s gardens and select wholesalers, and colorful garden planters, the plant sale is a great opportunity to meet Club members and learn about different varieties of plants. The Club always looks forward to sharing their enthusiasm about gardening with community members and to helping them make good plant choices for their gardens.

Club members volunteer their time and skills to design, purchase, install, and maintain plantings in several of the town’s public areas. Beautification projects include three seasonal plantings at the Town Common’s Doughboy statue, George Brown statue and water trough, the daylilies adorning the Main Street cemetery fence, the Hopkinton Library’s porch “window box”, the Colella’s market corner and front strip, the Elmwood school sign, the traffic island at the corner of Grove St. and Hayden Rowe, the Hopkinton Center for the Arts garden, and the Hopkinton Welcome sign. In addition, the Club installs and maintains nine containers for the summer and fall months, and decorates several locations in town for the holiday season.

The Plant Sale is the Club’s primary fundraising event supporting all town beautification projects. The on-going support of the community is appreciated to help make this a successful event. If you have plants already potted that you would like to donate to the sale, please contact Constance Charters at 508-435-6446 (email: constancecharters@gmail.com). Contributions to support the work of the Garden Club will be gratefully received by mail at the: Hopkinton Garden Club, Post Office Box 61, Hopkinton, MA 01748.
