Foreclosed Condo to Become Affordable Housing
After repairs, the Holliston condo will be awarded to a qualified family.

In an effort to provide additional affordable housing in Holliston, residents voted in October’s Town Meeting to resurrect a foreclosed condo as a low-price home.
The condo on 44 Burnap Road had been foreclosed upon when its owner failed to pay taxes.
Town Administrator Paul LeBeau hopes that the town’s acquisition of the unit will make living in Holliston accessible to a broader range of people.

“When we have a variety of housing options to a broad spectrum of people, it makes for a more diverse community,” LeBeau said.
The Holliston Housing Trust is tasked with paying backed taxes and fees, totaling around $45,000, before a family can move in. According to LeBeau, the low aquisition cost for the unit makes it partiticulary beneficial to the town.

“They will have to do some repairs then establish a process for selling the unit or awarding the unit to a qualified family,” LeBeau said.
