Samsung Electronics has taken the initiative to stage a three-location E-Waste Collection Event next week at no charge to consumers. Three Massachusetts locations serving fourteen local towns will give the community at large an opportunity to safely unload their old computers, television sets and other out-dated, unusable or unwanted consumer electronic items for proper recycling that is safe and environmentally sound.

“We’re extremely proud to be partnering with Samsung Electronics for this special program”
In an attempt to help the people of Massachusetts and the environment, Samsung Electronics has become proactive in its efforts to collect electronic waste for this special event that will take place December 10th. The electronics collected from all three locations will be trucked away and recycled by Holliston-based Electronic Recyclers International (ERI), the largest recycler of electronic waste in the nation and Samsung Electronic’s partner for this event. Samsung Electronics and ERI are working in conjunction with the South Shore Recycling Cooperative.

This multi-site e-waste collection event will be staged at three locations: a Plymouth location also serving Kingston, Duxbury and Middleboro; an Abington location also serving Hanson, Rockland, Weymouth and Whitman; and a Hanover location also serving Cohasset, Norwell, Scituate and Hingham.
The events are designed to provide locals with the opportunity to finally get rid of those old unwanted items, long since replaced and gathering dust in garages throughout the State.
“We’re extremely proud to be partnering with Samsung Electronics for this special program,” said John Shegerian, Chairman and CEO of ERI. “Samsung Electronics is an organization that has long been forward-thinking in terms of environmental concerns. This electronic recycling event is a further example of that commitment. Together, we are helping the good people of Massachusetts become more environmentally responsible and offering them a convenient opportunity to safely dispose of their old electronic devices at the same time.”
“It is extremely important to us at Samsung Electronics that we serve as a positive, sustainable example for the rest of our industry,” said Michael Moss, Director of Corporate Environmental Affairs at Samsung Electronics. “It’s particularly rewarding to be able to provide opportunities such as these free collection events, where individuals can set examples for their neighbors as well. Proper recycling of electronics is the responsible thing to for our planet – we’re working to help make easier to do the right thing.”
Massachusetts residents replace hundreds of thousands of TVs, computers, monitors and other electronic devices every year. Plus, they store literally millions more that are not used any more in homes, garages and businesses. Electronic products contain valuable resources such as metal, plastic and glass, which can and should be recycled instead of thrown away.
