Hopkinton Appoints Interim Police Chief
Charles Wallace, a current lieutenant, will become interim chief of the Hopkinton Police Department.

Hopkinton Selectmen have appointed Lt. Charles Wallace as Interim Police Chief, effective July 1.
Wallace will remain in the position for at least the next six months, allowing the town to conduct a search for a permanent police chief, selectmen announced.
He can also apply for the position, as well. As lieutenant, he previously served as the department's second-in-command.
The contract with Wallace also includes a provision that allows for an extension on his term as interim chief for another one or two three-month period, to allow the search for permanent chief to progress.
In addition to the chief, and lieutenant positions, the Hopkinton Police Department has 19 sworn officers, including a detective, as well as four full-time dispatchers at its 911 center.
Police Chief Police Chief Richard Flannery will retire Monday. He announced his intention to retire, to spend more time with family, several months ago.
