Hopkinton Police Log: One Arrest, Suspicious Landscapers

Wednesday, Sept. 26

1:20 a.m.: An officer removed a tree branch from Saddle Hill Road.

1:23 a.m.: A resident reported a car that crashed in to a tree in front of his house. The operator did not report any injuries but the vehicle was towed.

6:18 a.m.: A caller reported a two-car crash on West Main Street. No injures were reported.

11:38 a.m.: A caller reported that there were males on her property that shouldn’t bet there. Officers from the Hopkinton Police Department responded to the area and spoke to landscapers that had a work permit for the home on Hazel Road. An officer confirmed this with the original caller.

2:00 p.m.: A caller from Grove Street reported a salesman attempting to sell her windows. An officer responded and spoke with the unregistered solicitor and issued him a ticket for violating the town’s bylaw.

5:39 p.m.: An officer stopped a vehicle on Grove Street and arrested Jeffrey Vestute, 31, of 4 Ramble Rd., Milford. Vestute was charged with operating with a suspended license and operating without a license in possession.

6:53 p.m.: A caller from Chestnut Street reported a vehicle doing laps at a fast speed. Officers were unable to locate the vehicle.

Thursday, Sept. 27

12:01 a.m.: An officer conducted a town-wide streetlight check.

1:36 p.m.: A caller on Fruit Street reported vandalism and damage to the gates at the fields and a gate at their business. Video surveillance showed a white Jeep in the area.

3:59 p.m.: A caller reported a past breaking and entering on West Main Street.

5:32 p.m.: A caller reported a suspicious tractor-trailer moving van parked in an odd spot on Ash Street. An officer responded and spoke to the crew who reported that the truck wouldn’t fit down the street so they were using smaller vans to transport.

5:57 p.m.: A caller from the Upton Police Department reported a crash on West Main Street. No injuries were reported.

8:18 p.m.: An officer assisted the Southborough Police Department with a search for a possible breaking and entering suspect in their town.

10:17 a.m.: A caller from West Main Street reported four carloads of youths smoking marijuana. An officer responded but was unable to locate the youths.
