Hopkinton Police Log: Vehicle Entrapment, Suspicious White Van

The following information was provided by the Police Department. Charges do not indicate a conviction. All arrests are reported.

Friday, Sept. 28

3:55 a.m.: An officer checked a worker on South Street who was waiting for a friend to pick him up.

10:21 a.m.: Several callers reported a two-car crash with no injuries. There was property damage to a nearby house on East Main Street.

1:18 p.m.: A resident of Laurel Canyon reported that some windows at his home had been broken. An officer responded and took a report.

2:45 p.m.: An officer stood by while the Department of Public Works removed a tree from the Elm Street roadway.

2:49 p.m.: Officers responded to a car crash with entrapment on East Main Street. The road was blocked off in Ashland and in Hopkinton with traffic diverted. Two vehicles were towed and an ambulance transported at least one person to the hospital.

4:13 p.m.: An officer responded to a minor crash on Main Street.

5:41 p.m.: Multiple callers reported possible solicitors on Walker Street. An officer responded and spoke to the person who said they were from a nonprofit.

5:55 p.m.: A caller reported possible gunshots on McHugh Lane. An officer responded and spoke to a male with the proper permit.

6:03 p.m.: An officer responded to a crash on Hayden Rowe Street. No injuries were reported.

6:17 p.m.: A caller reported a possible cooking fire on Gibbon Road. The Hopkinton Fire Department was notified and responded.

7:06 p.m.: A caller from Spring Street reported a white van parked in his lawn. The caller said he returned home and the van sped off quickly but drove by slowly afterward. An officer responded and checked the area along with notifying the Westborough Police Department.

11:25 p.m.: A second caller from Spring Street reported a white van in the Spring Street area earlier. Extra checks were requested for the area.

Saturday, Sept. 29

10:00 a.m.: An officer assisted with the drug take back program at the Hopkinton Police Department.

11:58 a.m.: A caller reported a two-car crash on School Street. No injuries were reported.

12:56 p.m.: A caller reported that a vehicle was rolling down Church Street. A witness placed rocks under the tires to stop it from rolling.

7:52 p.m.: An officer assisted a resident of Glen Road with a water problem. The ambulance also responded to treat minor burns on the person’s hands.

Sunday, Sept. 30

12:08 a.m.: A caller requested a well-being check for her granddaughter on Meadowland Drive. The caller was worried the young girl had been drinking alcohol underage. No one acknowledged the doorbell when an officer arrived.

Monday, Oct. 1

12:47 a.m.: A caller reported hearing screams on Wilson Street. An officer checked the area but it was quiet.

7:00 a.m.: A caller reported that a vehicle passed a school bus on Wood Street when the stop sign was extended. An officer spoke to the vehicle operator.

10:17 a.m.: An officer assisted the fire department with a report of an outside fire on Spring Street.

10:18 a.m.: An officer took a report of vandalism on Hayden Rowe Street. Cars had been driving on the fields over the weekend.

1:38 p.m.: A caller reported a pit-bull running around the Center School property. Animal Control was notified and responded.

2:30 p.m.: A resident of Colella Farm Road reported a stolen package.

5:54 p.m.: An officer responded to a report of a suspicious individual going through trash on Saddle Hill Road.

9:18 p.m.: A passing motorist reported a vehicle parked on the front lawn of the church on West Elm Street. The vehicle was gone when an officer responded and there appeared to be masonry work being done to the building.
