Lamb to Hold Weekly Office Hours if Elected

Today Marty Lamb, Republican candidate for State Representative in the Eighth Middlesex District, pledged to be far more accessible by holding weekly office hours.

"Boston can be a long drive for people to meet with their State Representative. By holding weekly office hours, I will be more accessible to the people of this district," said Lamb. "It is important to keep the lines of communication open and stay in touch."

The incumbent State Representative infrequently holds offices hours to meet with constituents. Her last two known office hours were in May and January.

"I want constituents to know that they don't have to wait months for office hours to be held. They don't have to schedule an appointment. I will be available," said Lamb. "I will have an open door policy at the State House and more importantly in the district."

Lamb will rotate each week holding office hours in each of the four towns.

"Constituent service will be a priority for me. It won't be about a photo opportunity," said Lamb.

His other constituent service pledge includes sending out newsletters, not at taxpayer expense, and will hold town hall meetings to discuss important issues.

"We deserve a Representative who will put in the long hours, not just hold offices hours once in a while," added Lamb.

On a difference campaign matter, last week Lamb announced some reforms he will pursue to help the small business community.

Lamb released 6 key reforms that he will pursue as the next State Representative. They are as follows:

• Amend the laws governing freelancers and independent contractors so we can encourage entrepreneurship through self-employment
• Require the state to do a cost/benefit analysis of regulations every 5 years
• Pass a 3 year moratorium on new health care mandates
• End the inventory tax
• Allow more options in health care insurance products
• Allow businesses to appeal labor judgments against them
