Community Corner
LETTER: Veterans, I Want Your Stories
National Guard Sgt. Nic Jordan would like to meet with Holliston veterans and hear their stories.

Over the last year I have been sharing the stories of local military veterans; not from a combat perspective, but from a personal aspect of what they have accomplished with their lives as a whole. It helps to show a different side of us who have served are people as well as soldiers- and many of us contribute in our communities without our voices being heard.
The motivation for starting this- as a recruiter for the National Guard- I feel very strongly in having a positive community presence. We are the men and women who help our neighbors in times of distress, natural disaster and civil distress. The National Guard is comprised of a unique blend of individuals who all serve part time and come together when our Commonwealth, and our nation need us. We've helped citizens in Monson, MA after the tornadoes struck, the Gulf Coast after hurricane Katrina as well as over seas missions in Iraq and Asghanistan. As a recruiter, I am not looking to put myself in the stories I share in a manner that would draw people to joining the military in any sense- I am looking to just have people associate the National Guard with their neighbors, friends, co-workers because in essence we are!
If there are any local veterans willing to meet, I would love to get to know you, learn more about you, and share your story with Patch.
The greatest thing I can offer to Holliston is my time, experience and genuine willingness to help those in need- whether they join the military or need help manning a soup kitchen. I hope to be the local face of the National
Guard for years to come, and with that I plan on participating in many
community events.
In closing, I thank you for your time. Veterans who would like to contact me, and residents interested in participating in the several community events I am currently organizing, can reach me at (508) 922-4957.
Sincerely,
Sergeant Nic Jordan
