More than 50 local runners will take part in the Hopkinton section of a national, continuous relay to benefit the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings.

The relay, One Run For Boston, will arrive in Hopkinton on West Main Street mid-afternoon Sunday, then head into the center of town. The Hopkinton to Framingham runners are expected to accept the baton about 3:15 p.m., near the Hopkinton Town Common.

They will take over from runners who took the baton five miles from Upton, before following the path of the Boston Marathon route, ending their journey in Framingham. The continuous race began June 7 in Los Angeles and will end about 8 p.m. Sunday in Boston. The final stage has 650 runners, and is filled. But other stages today are still seeking runners. Donations also are accepted online.

Some sections of the relay have had a single runner carrying the baton. The Boston Globe today reported on one runner's journey in Missouri, on an overnight stretch.

The relay race will raise money for The One Fund Boston.
