: It was a horrible decision to open school on Monday and it was poorly communicated on top of that. Even though NSTAR shut off the power and didn't tell anyone, it STILL should have been communicated to the parents...Then, waiting until 11:40AM on Monday to do damage control only made the situation worse. We all get emails, texts and phone calls from the town, there was NO EXCUSE to open and not tell anyone. If an attempt was made (rather than an email or something else after the fact) parents would not be as upset as they were...And yes, the children did mind, they said they were cold and they were even bringing in extra clothing on Tuesday just in case!

: As a wife of a lineman, I see the other side of the comments about "coffee runs" and other rude comments. My husband has already worked 24+ hours without sleep, got back at at 2 this morning and went back out for another 18 hour shift. If he needs to stop for a cup of coffee, he is certainly entitled. If you have an issue with the utility company, take it up with management. There are a limited amount of lineman and they are stretched thin. Next time it is pouring rain or heavy snow, 15 degrees, and windy, climb up atop a 40 foot pole and work with electricity. Then, you are entitled to complain about the guys...
