• Civil engineer requested to oversee Charleswood project roadwork (hopkintonindependent.com) — Major roadwork tied to the new Charleswood Elementary School will disrupt a significant number of Hopkinton residents next summer, so the town’s project manager plans to hire an outside civil engineer to oversee the streets. Building Committee members debated whether that engineer should be independent from the roadwork designer, while also hearing that construction is slightly ahead of schedule and within the massive $158 million budget.
   

• Conservation Commission clears path for Whisper Way to potentially become town road (hopkintonindependent.com) — Whisper Way is a step closer to being accepted as a Hopkinton town road, pending a final certificate of compliance and a May 2 Town Meeting vote. The Conservation Commission also approved a new Chamberlain Street–Loop Road trail plan and signed off on wetland work tied to The Trails development near the Hopkinton-Ashland border, keeping a close eye on stormwater and vegetation impacts.
   

• Parks & Rec pulls CPC request for Pyne Field, considers new paths forward (hopkintonindependent.com) — Hopkinton’s Parks & Recreation Commission has pulled its funding request for the costly Pyne Field redesign after Planning Board safety concerns and rising estimates, and will now explore other sites like Elmwood and Center schools for future fields. The commission also discussed “leaning in” to graffiti at the Hank Fredette Skate Park, potentially turning sanctioned street art into a permanent feature while removing offensive tags.
