Firefighter Jim Plourde Is Another JP Hero

The firefighter from Jamaica Plain told the Boston Herald Tuesday he carried a wounded girl to an ambulance during the Marathon Monday bombing.

An Associated Press image of a firefighter carrying a bleeding young girl away from harm taken during the Boston Marathon bombing began circulating locally Wednesday.

That firefighter is Jim Plourde of Jamaica Plain, according to the Boston Herald, who reported yesterday the four-year veteran of the Boston Fire Department crawled through scaffolding to get the girl and bring her to an ambulance.

The girl, who had a bad leg wound according to the story, was saved.

The story of Carlos Arredondo made headlines Tuesday. He ran toward the flames Monday and managed to help a man who lost his leg in the blast to an ambulance. Arredondo is a known anti-war activist from Jamaica Plain.
