Marathon Experience: None - this is my first marathon and first Boston.
Reason for running: I’m running in memory of my grandpa who lost his battle with Alzheimer’s disease in 2002. I’m also running in honor of my nana for her many years as his caregiver and for her continued commitment to helping those who struggle with this disease.

Growing up, my nana and grandpa were daily figures in my life. Whether it was help with homework, day trips in the summer, or playing games after dinner - in nearly every one of my childhood memories, they play a large part. It was grandpa that helped my brother and I learn addition facts by teaching us how to play “21” with milk caps - what I would later learn to be blackjack. He always had a quick wit, a twinkle in his blue eyes, and a hard candy in his pocket. Through his years-long battle with this terrible disease, we stood by helpless as it mercilessly stole pieces of grandpa.
In addition to running, I’ve also committed to raising $10,000 to help fund the Alzheimer’s Association’s research and support programs.
