Search for Woman at Jamaica Pond Suspended Early Sunday

The woman reportedly entered the water and never came out Saturday night.

Boston police and fire officials responded to the Jamaica Pond Saturday night on a report of a woman who was believed to have entered the water but never came out, according to the Boston Fire Department.

Around 7:40 p.m., crews responded to the area, and the Quincy Police Dive Team was requested to the scene Saturday to respond with their sonar equipment, according to the BFD.

Boston.com reported that dive teams and police boats were also on scene Saturday night, and that Massachusetts State Police helicopters were requested to the assist in the search. Police also were also reportedly searching the Jamaica Plain area for the woman, according to NECN.

UPDATE: As of 11 p.m. Saturday night, Boston fire crews cleared the scene with negative results, and Boston police were reportedly remaining on scene, according to BFD. The search was subsequently called off around 3:30 a.m. Sunday, as authorities were not able to locate any trace of the woman, according to CBS Boston.
