Jamaica Plain Woman Among 3 Arrested for Cocaine Trafficking

Santa Delacruz-Chala, 36, of Jamaica Plain, was arrested and charged with trafficking cocaine and the intent to distribute the drug.

Police in Braintree arrested three individuals on Tuesday night, including a Jamaica Plain woman, in connection to an alleged cocaine trafficking operation.

Santa Delacruz-Chala, 36, of Jamaica Plain, Bernardo Torres-Trinidad, 37, of Brockton, and Altagracia Chani Torres, 39, of Lynn, were arrested and charged with trafficking cocaine and the intent to distribute the drug.

Police say undercover detectives witnessed the trio carrying out a drug transaction with a Braintree man. Detectives intervened and found the suspects to be in possession of 29 grams of cocaine.

A two-year-old boy was present in the vehicle at the time of the arrests, reports indicate.

According to police, the arrests mark the conclusion of a four-month investigation, which began in April.

The three were arraigned on Wednesday. They pleaded innocent and were ordered held on $1,000 bail. Each suspect posted bail.

They will all return to court on Sept. 21 for a pretrial hearing.
