JP Community Offered Help Via Twitter Following Explosions

JP residents took to twitter in the hours following the Boston Marathon explosions Monday afternoon.

The Jamaica Plain community, reflective of most of Boston yesterday, took to Twitter yesterday afternoon to offer help for those in need in the aftermath of the Boston Marathon explosions.

Michelle Juralewicz (@MichelleJural) tweeted: #BostonHelp Guest bedroom, food, clothes, anything in Jamaica Plain, we can give you a ride here.

The hashtag #BostonHelp sprung up on Twitter as well as a circulating Google Doc with names and phone numbers of people offering homes to assist those who need lodgings and anything else.

District 6 City Councilor Matt O’Malley offered his Jamaica Plain home via Twitter in the late afternoon.

BBQsmith Food Truck (@BBQsmith) offered a room in Jamaica Plain for anyone in need: “we have a spare room in Jamaica plain for stranded out of towners.”

Two explosions at the finish line of yesterday's Boston Marathon left two dead and hundreds injured in a scene described by witnesses and media outlets as a "war zone."
