New J&P Cleaners to Hold Grand Opening in Jamaica Plain

A new “green” dry cleaning business is about to celebrate its grand opening in Jamaica Plain.
J&P Cleaners, which has made strides to eliminate toxic materials in its dry cleaning efforts, will hold a ribbon-cutting celebration on Thursday, Sept. 11 at 5:30 p.m. at the business, 300B Centre St. in Jamaica Plain.

The Jamaica Plain New Economy Transition announced the ribbon cutting this week, and highlighted the following accolades of the cleaners:
“J&P Cleaners is a successful example of how traditional livelihood businesses in Boston can go green and flourish. In less than a year, J&P Cleaners:

- Eliminated the use of the carcinogen Perchloroethylene in dry cleaning
- Received a $15,000 award from the Toxics Use Reduction Institute (TURI)
- Successfully crowd sourced $18,000
- in community contributions, and
- Is currently providing cancer-free services to the entire Jamaica Plain community, including the historically Hispanic corridor of Hyde Square.”
