Several Homes Evacuated After Gas Main Break In Hyde Park

A private contractor was repairing part of Meadowbrook Road when a pipe accidentally cracked, firefighters say.

HYDE PARK, MA — A few homes in Boston's Hyde Park neighborhood had to be evacuated after a gas main break was reported in the area, police say.

Boston police and fire crews responded to Meadowbrook Road around 9:40 a.m. and helped evacuate six homes.

The homes have seen been deemed clear and families have been allowed back in their homes.

A private contractor was repairing part of the road when a pipe was accidentally cracked, the Boston Fire Department said.

Crews were then able to cap the cracked pipe.
