Several Local Politicians Rock Out at Jamaica Plain's Porchfest
Thousands came out to experience Jamaica Plain's Porchfest this past Saturday.

Hundreds of musical artists took part in Jamaica Plain’s Porchfest this past Saturday, but they weren’t the only ones performing for the thousands in attendance. Several local politicians came out to sing and dance.
City Councilors Matt O’Malley, Ayanna Pressley and Tito Jackson all performed. They were joined by State Representatives Liz Malia and Jeffrey Sanchez.
The five performed on the festival’s “political porch” on Centre Street. O’Malley, alongside the Green Street Band, kicked things off. O’Malley played his take on Bruce Springsteen’s “Born to Run,” according to The Boston Globe.

Presley wooed the crowd when she performed her rendition of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.” She sang the famous tune in soulful fashion.
Jackson opted to dance alongside those in the crowd, rather than sing. He taught those around him how to do the “Cupid Shuffle.” Sanchez performed a Spanish love song and read the famous poem “Jabberwocky.”

In total, over 120 performances were held on 70 porches across Jamaica Plain.
“Porchfest epitomizes community. It epitomizes what we need to see in the community: Getting out of the house and walking to the other side of the fence,” Jackson told The Boston Globe.
