Two Plead Guilty in 2010 Bromley Heath Shooting
The incident occurred at a basketball court near the Jamaica Plain housing development.

Two gang members pleaded guilty Thursday to their connection with a 2010 shooting death of a 14-year-old near the Bromley Heath housing development in Jamaica Plain, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel Conley said in a statement.
Timothy Hearns, 24, and Ramon Silvelo-Miles, 25, pleaded guilty to manslaughter for the homicide of 14-year-old Jaewon Martin, in addition to three counts of armed assault with intent to murder and related offenses for firing at three other teens at the basketball court, according to Thursday’s release.
Hearns reportedly admitted to the shooting and was sentenced to 31-32 years in state prison followed by five years of probation. If during that time he is a re-offender, or if he associates with any other H-Block gang members, he will face up to 20 more years in state prison, Conley said.

Silveo-Miles, who reportedly accompanied Hearns, shared his intent and was charged as a joint venturer in the homicide. He was sentenced to nine to 10 years in state prison, followed by three years of probation, and faces the same probationary conditions as Hearns, although will face up to 80 additional years if he violates those terms.
The two suspects had been indicted for first-degree murder, Conley said, and prosecutors agreed to accept their guilty pleas for the prison sentences as well as strategic reasons, including to avoid the trials being severed and that the main prosecution witnesses were fellow gang members “who would be reluctant to testify and whose testimony could be impeached with their prior criminal histories,” according to the release.

“Six years older than Jaewon, you should have been trying to teach these kids something positive, not taking someone’s life,” Martin’s mother said during her impact statement prior to the suspects’ sentencing, according to Conley’s release. “Your actions have consequences . . . this pleas agreement will put to end four long years of heartache and frustration over endless court dates, delays, waiting and will ensure that you will spend many years behind bars. No amount of time is going to bring Jaewon back . . . I will be monitoring your release and probation. I will be at every hearing allowed.”
