What Should Be Done About Shattuck Child Care?

With the state planning to shut down a longstanding Jamaica Plain children's health center, the neighborhood has responded in support.
An online petition to plea to state lawmakers to not shut the doors on the Lemuel Shattuck Hospital's Child Care Center has nearly reached its goal of 1,000 signatures.
The state is in the process of condemning the building at 180 Morton St., and therefore forcing the child care center to close. According to the petition, the state has also pulled its share of funding for the private, non-profit healthcare facility. The hospital was established in 1969.

As of Wednesday, the petition had been signed by 846 people.
Shattuck child care has specialized in health and education for children and has served the disadvantage population of Boston for 44 years.
