Mansfield, MA (July 2025) – On July 22, the Massachusetts Assisted Living Association (Mass-ALA) honored Bridges® by EPOCH at Lexington Wellness Director Sherlyer “Shea” Sermot at its annual Excellence Awards Dinner.

Sermot was among the top senior living employees recognized by the association for outstanding work serving assisted living residents in Massachusetts. Each year, Mass-ALA recognizes the best of the best in the assisted living industry at Mass-ALA's prestigious Excellence Awards dinner. This year, the dinner was held at the EnVision Hotel and Conference Center in Mansfield, MA.

In addition to Sermot, 19 EPOCH Senior Living employees and one resident were nominated for Mass -ALA awards in various categories, ranging from Wellness and Dining to Employee Leadership,Maintenance and Resident Spirit.

“It says a lot about the quality of care we provide our residents that so many of our employees were nominated for this prestigious award,’’ said EPOCH Chairperson Laurie Gerber. “I congratulate Shea and all our dedicated employees on this important recognition.’’

As winner of the Wellness Award, Sermot was recognized for the compassion and care she has shown residents and their families. In her nomination, EPOCH spoke about how Sermot went above and beyond helping a resident who returned from the hospital under hospice care and how she worked closely with both the family and the team to ensure that the resident's final days were filled with comfort, dignity, and connection.

“We are so fortunate to have someone like Shea here at Bridges,’’ said Executive Director Luidja Jean Louis, RN. “We consistently receive e-mails and letters from families praising Shea’s dedication to her job and expressing their gratitude for the difference she has made in the lives of our residents. She is a great role model for our team.’’
