Crafts for Charity at Farmers Market Tuesday

Crafts for charity event and kids cooking group will be at the market this week.

The Lexington Farmers' Market this week is holding two special events at its market, held weekly from 2 to 6:30 p.m. at the corner of Massachusetts Avenue and Woburn Stret.

Dr. Daniel Palant is hosting Crafts for Charity, spearheading it with the goal of selling crafts to benefit the Lexington Food Pantry, Project Bread, The Pine Street Inn and Rosie's Place.

All proceeds from sales at the market's Artisans' Tent on Tuesday will go to these charities. Many of the artisans selling for at the tent are donating their art to benefit the organizations. Representatives from the charities will also be available to answer questions and accept donations.

Kids Cooking Green, the educational offshoot of the market, has been recognized by national food advocate Chef Ann Cooper and The Lunch Box Project. Kids Cooking Green will be at the farmers market Tuesday as well, from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m.

A honey farmer will be bringing a live bee hive to show kids, while an apple farmer will give a lesson on why apples are healthy for the body. Another farmer who raises lambs will also be talking with the kids.
