Editor's Notebook: Patch Celebrates its 100th Site Launch
Lexington site has been live since May.
Hello Lexington,
I wanted to let you know that Patch reached an exciting milestone today, launching its 100th local news website, in Morristown, N.J.
To date, Patch, which was founded in February 2008 and acquired by AOL in June 2009, has posted more than 55,000 articles and nearly 1 million photos on its sites. There are Patch sites in nine states now, and plans are underway to roll out even more country-wide.

While Patch is garnering plenty of attention for reaching the 100-site mark, personally, I'm most excited about Patch's 64th site – Lexington Patch – which went live on May 28.
As editor of Lexington Patch, I've heard a lot of positive feedback about the site – how clean and easy to use it is, how wide and diverse our coverage is and how useful the event and business listings are. We hope to continue to be your source for all things Lexington.

My writers and I are attending a variety of town government meetings and town events; writing features and profiles on businesses, organizations and people; attending games and sporting events; and covering the news, including police and fire incidents.
Taking a look back at the past two and a half months since Lexington Patch began, we've done a variety of stories, from reporting on the Fire Department's new Engine 2 which went into service in July, to coverage of the Board of Selectmen's recent meeting where members discussed saving money and energy by potentially converting to florescent bulbs in the street lights.
A recent two-part series explored a concept of bringing local food right into people's backyards. Read about Rad Urban Farmers, and some of the Lexington residents who participate, here.
Sportswise, our writers brought you coverage of the Lexington High School teams that had playoff bids this spring, including the boys' tennis team which won its sectional final. This summer, we've been following the which is now underway.
We've also posted a variety of videos on Lexington Patch, including one in which Lexington residents sound off on the state law banning text messaging while driving. Another video story showed the sights and sounds of an oil spill vigil held at Depot Square.
I hope Lexington Patch continues to be your source for local news and information. Please don't hesitate to e-mail or call me with any questions, comments or feedback, and introduce yourself when you see me around town.
Sincerely,
Abby Jordan
