Half of Estabrook PCB Test Results Show Declined PCB Levels

Superintendent Paul Ash to post tonight a letter on advisory committee's meeting discussing the results.

The preliminary results of half the polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB) air samples tested at Estabrook Elementary School revealed that levels have declined, according to a letter from Director of Public Facilities Pat Goddard.

Goddard's letter was posted on the Lexington Public Schools' health and safety website Thursday afternoon. It says that PCB levels declined, and in some cases are below Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) guidelines, in all nine air sample results received yesterday.

Eighteen air samples were collected on Sept. 5 for testing, and the remaining nine sample results are expected to be received today. The Superintendent's Advisory Committee will be reviewing the results, and results of bulk material and soil testing today.
