Brilliant trumpets, soaring strings, a beautiful flute melody floating over the top--all accompanying dozens of singers lifting their voices in some of the greatest choral music ever written. This is what awaits singers who join the choir of Hancock Church, UCC, in singing A Bach Christmas this holiday season. The choir invites singers of all levels to join them for this event! Repertoire includes selections from Bach's Christmas Oratorio and various Christmas cantatas, accompanied by chamber orchestra.

"We invite anyone who loves to sing to join us," says Director of Music, Mark Morgan, "people from any faith tradition (or none), sexual orientation, race etc., all are welcome. There are no auditions, and we welcome all voice parts."

The Choir has a long history of semi-annual "cantatas" accompanied by professional orchestra, with additional singers from across the greater Boston area joining with the regular choir members. Rehearsals are Thursday evenings from 7:00-8:00pm, starting November 6. Past works have included pieces ranging from Bernstein's Chichester Psalms and Charpentier's Te Deum, to Robert Ray's Gospel Mass, and Carol Barnett's Bluegrass Mass.

"We sing a wide range of eclectic, quality choral literature throughout the year, but we are incredibly fortunate to be able to do these major works twice a year, and we love sharing that gift with the community." For further information, contact Mark Morgan, Director of Music, at mark@hancockchurch.org.
