Letter to the Editor: We Need a Strong Planning Board

Letter to the Editor from Peter Enrich.

To the Editor:

Lexington’s future depends on our ability to strike a careful balance between protecting against excessive development and allowing for prudent growth of our business tax base. We need a strong Planning Board to provide leadership in striking that balance.

That’s why we are very fortunate that Michelle Ciccolo is running for a seat on the Planning Board this year.

Michelle brings an extraordinary combination of knowledge and commitment to the Planning Board. She has spent the last 17 years working professionally for Massachusetts communities, dealing with complex issues of planning and economic development. And she has spent her lifetime in Lexington, where she has been an active community leader since high school.

The values she has stood for and the skills she has proven, in both her personal and her professional roles, are precisely what we need on our Planning Board. She is committed to inclusive community participation in planning decisions, and she understands the need to carefully plan the location and scale of new development, and the tools that are available to manage the impacts of such development.

I am delighted to be part of Michelle’s campaign committee, and I urge you to join me in giving her one of your votes for Planning Board on Monday, March 7.
