LEXINGTON, MA — The victim in a fatal boating accident in Gilmanton, NH has been identified as a Lexington resident. The family of Keoni Hubbard released a statement following the accident, according to Boston 25.

The family described the boy as "a selfless child who truly found joy in the happiness of others."

He was in New Hampshire with a Boy Scout group when the accident occurred, Mass Live reported. Police received a call reporting a boating accident on Manning Lake Friday at about 2:15 p.m.

The Daniel Webster Council, a Boy Scout governing body in Manchester, NH, confirmed the accident in a Facebook post.

"We are heartbroken to confirm the death of a Scout yesterday following a tragic accident on Manning Lake in Gilmanton," the council wrote. "We offer our deepest condolences to the Scout's family and ask everyone to please join in keeping this young man and his loved ones in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time."

Lexington School Superintendent Julie Hackett said that the boy was a student at Clarke Middle School, Boston 25 reported.

State police are investigating the cause of the boating accident.
