Lexington Man Shot His Mother, Her Friend: DA

A man is facing charges that he shot his mother and her friend, a Haverhill woman, according to prosecutors.

LEXINGTON, MA — A Lexington man is accused of shooting his mother and her friend Friday. Brent Justice Roman-Finnagan, 22, faces several charges in the double shooting.

Police received a 911 call at 4:46 p.m. from Finnagan's mother, a 57-year-old woman who lives with her son at a Keeler Farm Way home, according to Middlesex County District Attorney Marian Ryan. The woman reported that her son had shot her and her friend, a 55-year-old Haverhill woman.

Police arrived at the home and took Finnagan into custody without incident.

The two victims were transported to an area hospital where they remain in stable condition.

Finnagan was transported to a hospital last night for a mental health evaluation but has since been released. He remains in custody pending arraignment Monday in Concord District Court.

Police learned that Finnagan illegally purchased a gun that he had been keeping in his room. While he was in the home with his mother and her friend, he retrieved the gun and shot both women, according to prosecutors.

Finnagan was charged with two counts of armed assault with intent to murder, two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon resulting in serious bodily injury, two counts of assault and battery as a result of discharge of a firearm, possession of a firearm, and possession of ammunition.

The investigation into the crime is ongoing.
