Lexington Named Top 20 Small City In The Nation

Lexington nabbed the #2 spot on Wallet Hub's list of the top 20 small cities in America.

LEXINGTON, MA — Lexington is number two on Wallet Hub's list of the Top 20 Small Cities in America.

Surpassed only by Sammamish, WA, Lexington was compared with more than 1,200 U.S. cities with populations between 25,000 and 100,000 across 43 key indicators of livability. Three other Massachusetts towns made the list, including Needham, Milton and Arlington.

All 20 cities on the list range in housing costs and school-system quality to restaurants per capita and COVID-19 cases in the last seven days per 100,000 residents.

Lexington ranked, 357 in affordability 12 in economic health and 13 in education and health. Lexington ranked 4 in safety and 102 in quality of life.

Lexington attracts tourists from all over the world each year because of its history in the American Revolution and its proximity to Boston. Lexington Town Manager James Malloy said, "The diversity of our residents plays a critical role in why Lexington is such a great community; having the involvement of residents with diverse backgrounds, experiences, and traits provides a broad perspective for community-based decision-making."
