Lexington PD Warn About New Police Union Scam
Scammers have called residents claiming to raise money for the department.
LEXINGTON, MA — Lexington police are warning residents to be cautious on the phone as scammers have started calling and posing as Lexington Police Union members to gain personal information.
The scammer poses as a union member and claims to be raising money for the department. The Lexington Police Department posted a Facebook status on Thursday clarifying that the union is not doing any fundraising activities right now, so if residents get a call saying otherwise, it's a scam.
The department added that anyone who has questions about receiving phone calls asking for money is welcome to call the department business line at 781-862-1212.
