Oil Spill on Rte. 128 South Closes Several Lanes

Spill happened around 2:25 p.m.

The Massachusetts State Police are on Rte. 128 southbound in Lexington after diesel fuel spilled from a truck, covering about a half-mile of the highway, officials said.

According to a statement from the state police office of media relations, the spill occurred on Rte. 128, prior to Rte. 2A, and the oil covered the breakdown lane and right travel lane. Both of those lanes are closed. 

The spill occurred around 2:25 p.m., the statement said.
