• Lexingtonians struggle to quit gas-powered leaf blowers this fall (lexobserver.org) — Lexington’s ban on gas-powered leaf blowers is now in force for commercial landscapers, and police have fielded more than 200 complaints since September. Officers are issuing warnings and fines, hiring specialized staff, and preparing for even stricter rules this spring, when residents will also be barred from using gas-powered blowers. Locals are urged to report violations via the non-emergency line.
   

• In Lexington, Healey Touts Millions in ‘Affordable' ADU Construction Financing (bankerandtradesman.com) — Gov. Maura Healey came to a Lexington accessory dwelling unit to unveil a statewide ADU design contest and new financing aimed at making these small homes more affordable. The visit highlighted a local family’s backyard ADU and underscored how Lexington homeowners could eventually tap new state-backed loan programs. Officials hope ADUs will significantly expand housing options over the next decade.
   

• Once a teenage baker at Bentley University, Kevin Curtin now spreads love at Love Farms on the Cape (bostonglobe.com) — A Waltham native recalls training at Minuteman in Lexington before building a baking career that took him from Bentley University to Chatham Bars Inn and now Love Farms on Cape Cod. He describes how Cape Cod’s year-round restaurant scene is changing, his plans for a farm-to-table restaurant and market, and his passion for mentoring young culinarians.
