Position Description (Residential Specialist):

Mainstay Supportive Housing is seeking a friendly, thoughtful, caring, and dependable candidate to work Full Time, Part Time or Per Diem as a Resident Specialist. This position involves providing both one-on-one and group support to residents living in a collaborative, congregate home in Newton Center.

Residents have varied degrees of independence and support needs. Some examples include Intellectual and Developmental disabilities, Autism, Mental health issues, and occasionally physical disabilities.

Position Responsibilities:

● Have upbeat, genuine interactions with Residents. Be comfortable with learning and behavioral differences and interacting with team members, and family members.

● Perform duties guided by the Resident’s Plan of Care that focuses on their independence with daily living skills. This may include reminders to shower, clean their rooms, and to wear appropriate clothing/shoes for the weather.

● Assist Residents with duties that may be difficult for them including laundry, room cleaning, and grocery/pharmacy shopping.

● Prepare healthy, well-balanced dinners every day for Residents while including them in the process.

● Provide companionship to the Residents by doing something mindful, fun, and recreational during visits. This position allows for creativity and welcomes your suggestions to introduce positive and fun activities.

● Be able to work with the management team to ensure that Residents are developing independent living skills and connections with other residents.

● Ask for help when needed and be willing to help others.

● Represent Mainstay to the community and outside stakeholders with integrity and positivity.

Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma required
1-3 years of experience working with people with disabilities
