Students Return to School This Week

The hallways in Lexington High School and other schools in town won't be empty for long.

Teacher workshops are in full swing today, leading up to Tuesday's school opening for some students, and Wednesday opening for all students. School will be closed on Friday and Monday, and a regular schedule resumes on Tuesday, Sept. 7. 

Here is the back-to-school schedule: 

Tuesday, Aug. 31

Lexington High School

• Grade 9: 7:45 a.m. – 2:25 p.m.
• Grades 10 to 12: New students only, no transportation, 10 – 11:45 a.m.

Clarke Middle School

• Grade 6: 8 a.m. – 1 p.m.
• Grades 7 and 8: New students only, no transportation, 8:30 – 10 a.m.

Diamond Middle School

• Grade 6: 8 a.m. – 1 p.m.
• Grades 7 and 8 – New students only, as arranged by Guidance. No transportation.

Elementary Schools

• Kindergarten (full-day and half-day) 8:45 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.
• Grades 1 to 5: 8:45 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.

Wednesday, Sept. 1

Lexington High School

• Grades 9 to 12: 7:45 a.m. – 2:25 p.m.

Middle Schools (Clarke and Diamond)

• Grades 6 to 8: 8 a.m. – 2:50 p.m.

Elementary Schools

• Kindergarten (full-day and half-day): 8:45 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.
• Grades 1 to 5: 8:45 a.m. – 3:15 p.m.

Thursday, Sept. 2

Lexington High School

• 7:45 a.m. – 2:25 p.m.

Middle Schools

• 8 a.m. – 2:50 p.m.

Elementary Schools

• Kindergarten (full-day and half-day): 8:45 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.
• Grades 1 to 5: 8:45 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.

Friday, Sept. 3

• All schools closed; offices open

Monday, Sept. 6

• All schools — Labor Day holiday – schools and offices closed

Tuesday, Sept. 7

All schools resume regular daily schedule, Monday through Friday.

• Middle Schools: 8 a.m. – 2:50 p.m.

• Elementary Schools: 

  Kindergarten half-day, 8:45 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.
