Weekly Police Log: Two Dog Bites in Two Days; Thief Nabs Laptop

Incidents and arrests, July 26 - Aug. 1.

Sunday, Aug. 1

1:50 a.m. – A Waltham man was arrested on Middle Street and charged with assault and battery, police said. Christian J. Mula, 22, ot 40 Amelia Drive, was also charged with malicious destruction of property over $250, for damaging a car sunroof, police said.

10:22 a.m. – Arlington police issued a BOLO (be on the lookout) for a gray Honda Civic involved in a hit-and-run accident with property damage.

12:31 p.m. – Trash dumping was reported on Bow Street.

3:56 p.m. – An argument was reported on East Street.

Saturday, July 31

9:29 a.m. – A bicycle was reported as stolen on Garfield Street.

11:37 a.m. – Police conducted a well-being check on Bowker Street.

1:19 p.m. – An erratic driver was reported on Bedford Street.

1:32 p.m. – A bike was reported as stolen on Asbury Street.

5:02 p.m. – A person was reported as injured after a fall on the Bikeway near Hartwell Avenue.

11:45 p.m. – A domestic dispute was reported on Woburn Street.

 

Friday, July 30

7:23 a.m. – Vandalism was reported on East Emerson Road. Caution tape and cones were strewn about on a lawn.

8:22 a.m. – A parking complaint was received from Winthrop Road of trucks parked on the corner.

12:28 p.m. – A hit-and-run accident with property damage was reported on Bedford Street.

1:26 p.m. – A water leak was reported at the Senior Center on Mass Avenue. The center was closed Aug. 2 for repairs.

2:15 p.m. – A town employee reported a hand injury on Mass Avenue.

2:24 p.m. – A rock struck a car on Concord Avenue.

2:32 p.m. – A dispute between a contractor and a customer was reported on East Emerson Road.

3:09 p.m. – A domestic dispute was reported on Leonard Road.

9:04 p.m. – An 87-year-old man with Alzheimer's disease was reported as missing from his home Winchester Drive after leaving on foot. The man was found in less than two hours, police said.

 

Thursday, July 29

9:34 a.m. – A parking complaint was received from Webb Street.

11:23 a.m. – A low-hanging wire was reported on Spring Street.

11:38 a.m. – An accident occurred on Waltham Street.

12:00 p.m. – A wire was reported down on Cary Avenue.

12:17 p.m. – Fraud was reported on Mass Avenue.

12:25 p.m. – A car was reported as disabled on Waltham Street.

12:42 p.m. – Suspicious activity was reported on Park Drive.

1:45 p.m. – A car was reported as disabled on Bedford Street.

2:16 p.m. – A local man was arrested on Bedford Street and charged with assault and battery, police said. Jonathan J. Wentzell, 20, of 375 Lowell St., was also charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, a car, police said. No injuries were reported.

2:36 p.m. – Vandalism by graffiti was reported on Worthen Road, of several words written on a walkway in blue paint near Grace Chapel.

4:38 p.m. – A loose dog on Waltham Street was reported to Animal Control.

5:48 p.m. – An accident occurred on Adams Street.

7:24 p.m. – A car was reported as disabled on Bedford Street.

9:38 p.m. – Low-hanging wires were reported on Mass Avenue.

10:18 p.m. – A motorcycle helmet was reported as stolen on Mass Avenue.

 

Wednesday, July 28, 2010

6:46 a.m. – A noise complaint was received from Grove Street.

7:08 a.m. – Storage boxes were broken into on Patriot Way. Several locks were cut on the storage boxes at the Shire construction site. Nothing appeared to be missing. It is believed workers arriving at the site interrupted an attempted breaking and entering, police said.

7:42 a.m. – A driver on Bedford Street was cited for driving with a suspended license.

9:24 a.m. – A parking complaint of a moving truck blocking traffic was reported on Burlington Street at Grove Street.

11:12 a.m. – A tree limb was reported down on Reed Street.

11:32 a.m. – A dog bite occurring the previous night was reported on Stedman Road. Two people were walking their dogs, and one was bitten while trying to separate the dogs when they began to fight. The person bit refused medical treatment. The Animal Control officer advised both people, and the two dogs were quarantined for 10 days.

12:31 p.m. – An accident occurred on Mass Avenue.

12:44 p.m. – An accident occurred on Mass Avenue and Pleasant Street.

2:45 p.m. – An erratic driver was reported on Mass Avenue and Waltham Street.

2:53 p.m. – A car drove into a greenhouse wall at the Wagon Wheel Nursery & Farmstand on Waltham Street. A window was broken, but no other damage was reported, police said.

3:03 p.m. – Police assisted a resident of Bedford Street locked out of their home.

4:05 p.m. – A tree limb was reported down on Lawrence Lane.

5:23 p.m. – Police served a criminal process on Green Lane.

6:06 p.m. – Police served a criminal process on Buckman Drive.

6:26 p.m. – A parked car on Mass Avenue was reported as suspicious.

9:07 p.m. – Arcing wires were reported on Burnham Road.

10:42 p.m. – A tree limb was reported as down on Concord Avenue.

10:59 p.m. – A fireworks complaint was received from Hancock Street.

 

Tuesday, July 27

8:33 a.m. – An accident occurred on Bedford Street.

9:09 a.m. – An accident occurred on Grove Street.

11:55 a.m. – A dog bite was reported on Haskell Street. A dog walker walking several dogs was injured on the arm and leg after several of the dogs she was walking got into a fight with another walker's golden retriever.

12:20 p.m. – A parking complaint was called in by the DPW about a car on Mass Avenue at Forest Street.

12:22 p.m. – An accident occurred on Mass Avenue at Winthrop Road.

1:25 p.m. – Wire fraud was reported on Mass Avenue.

1:46 p.m. – Two cars were reported as broken into on Middlesex Turnpike.

2:51 p.m. – A missing juvenile boy was reported on Waltham Street. He was found shortly after.

4:45 p.m. – A domestic dispute was reported on Waltham Street.

6:21 p.m. – A domestic dispute was reported on Volunteer Way.

6:43 p.m. – A Lowell man was arrested on Bedford Street, police said. John Coviello, 34, of 58 Third St., was charged with driving with a revoked license, police said.

7:37 p.m. – A Lexington woman was arrested on Garfield Street, police said. Nell Thayer Heisner, 41, of 30 Bernard St., was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, police said.

9:31 p.m. – Police checked on a report of youths on conservation land on Oak Street.

9:38 p.m. – A domestic dispute was reported on Leonard Road.

 

Monday, July 26

7:57 a.m. – A car was reported as disabled on Bedford Street.

8:20 a.m. – A neighbor dispute was reported on Circle Drive.

10:43 a.m. – A car accident occurred on Cary Avenue.

11:27 a.m. – A domestic dispute was reported on Bedford Street.

1:12 p.m. – A car was reported as disabled on Waltham Street.

2:31 p.m. – A home was reported broken into on Burlington Street. The break-in occurred between 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., and access was gained through a rear window. A laptop computer and jewelry was taken, police said.

2:36 p.m. – A past hit-and-run accident was reported on Hayden Avenue.

2:54 p.m. – An open door at a business was reported on Burlington Street.

3:11 p.m. – Suspicious activity was reported on Butler Avenue.

3:28 p.m. – A burglary was reported on Lincoln Street. The break-in occurred between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. and the upstairs bedrooms and drawers downstairs were gone through. It was unknown immediately whether anything was taken, police said.

3:33 p.m. – A resident complained of solicitors on Peachtree Road.

4:10 p.m. – A door was reported open at a residence on Lincoln Street.

4:44 p.m. – A hit-and-run accident resulting in property damage occurred on Mass Avenue.

7:05 p.m. – An accident occurred on Concord Avenue with a car hitting a biker. The biker was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, police said. No citations were given.

7:36 p.m. – An erratic driver was reported on Winchester Drive.

8:55 p.m. – Suspicious activity was reported on Mass Avenue.

9:18 p.m. – Police assisted with a runaway on Pelham Road.

9:50 p.m. – A hot manhole cover was reported on Moon Hill Road.

10:36 p.m. – A car was reported as disabled on Bedford Street.
