Lynnfielders' Charity Donations About Average For Boston Area

The Chronicle of Philanthropy has released detailed information on philanthropy by state, county, town and zip code. Check out where Lynnfield compares to other towns.

A recent study by the Chronicle of Philanthropy finds that Lynnfield is about in the average for the Boston area when it comes to charitable contributions. The table below compares Lynnfield's data to that of numerous surrounding communities.

As you can see below, the average resident of the Boston area donates 2.8% percent of their income to charity in any given year, while the average Lynnfield resident donates 2.6%. Both are significantly below the 4.7% of median income donated by the average American.

Of course, that figure is also somewhat misleading. The average Lynnfielder's discretionary income is $74,778 - one of the highest in the Boston area. And with that in mind, the media annual charitable contribution in Lynnfield was $1,981 last year - well above the state average and Boston area average, but still well below the national average.
