Middlesex Officer, Lynn Native Served With 'Honor and Distinction'

Officer Matt Snow passed away this weekend following a battle with ALS.

LYNN, MA – Matt Snow followed in his father's footsteps when he became a Middlesex Sheriff's Officer. Brad Snow, also of Lynn, was a 25-year veteran of the department when he passed away in 2013.

This past weekend, Officer Matt Snow also passed after a "courageous battle" with ALS.

"Officer Snow served with honor and distinction at the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office for three years," said Sheriff Peter J. Koutoujian in a statement. "The Snow family – including Matt and his dad Brad –share a proud legacy of service to the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office; one we will honor and cherish always. Our thoughts and prayers are with Matt’s family and all of their loved ones during this incredibly difficult time."

Officer Matt Snow and Officer Keith Zewiey received a Community Service Award earlier this year for their efforts to combat Lou Gehrig's Disease in memory of Braw Snow. In 2013, Zewiey organized a fundraiser to benefit the Snow family in an event that became known at the Snow Bowl, according to Officer Brendan Kennedy. Matt Snow and Zewiey became close friends when Snow joined the department.
