Reid's Ride Raised More Than $170K This Year

Today is Wednesday, August 14. Here are five things worth knowing today.
On July 21, more than 400 cyclists participated in the annual Reid’s Ride, a 28-mile bike ride from Lynnfield to Gloucester that raises money for adolescents and young adults with cancer. This year, the event reportedly raised more than $170,000. For more information, click here.
Later this week, the Lynnfield Library has two activities set for Friday afternoon. At 2 p.m., there’s a root beer float party for those who participated in the library’s summer reading program. Then, the new Young Adult Foodie Fridays group, aimed at youths between ages 12-18, makes a layer dip at 3 p.m. at the library.

From the Lynnfield Senior Center: Karen Orband, R. N. will be here to discuss diabetes, what it is and some treatments. Thursday, Aug. 29th at 12:30. Free. Please sign up. Lunch is served at 11:30 for $2.00/$3.00. You must sign up for lunch by noon the day before. Depending on interest, this will be a monthly discussion.

Coming up on Thursday, August 15 from 6 to 8 p.m., the Beebe Library has announced that jazz vocalist Barbara Silva and her band are the next performers in the plaza jazz concert series, held Thursday evenings in the summer out in front of the library.
