Annual Street Hockey Tournament Named for 'Joey V'
Teams are organized to represent the various neighborhoods people grew up in. Joey V. helped organize the first tournament.

Mayor Gary Christenson and Ward 8 Councillor Jadeane Sica for the 4th Annual Home for the Holidays Charity Street Hockey Tournament at Linden Park. This year’s tournament was named in memory of Joe Vaitkevicius, known as “Joey V,” a founding member of the tournament who recently passed away due to cancer.
The mayor presented a Proclamation to Joey V.’s family in recognition of the event originating as the result of a conversation Joe had on Facebook about the best team “back in the day”.

Teams are organized to represent the various neighborhoods people grew up in. Joe helped organize the first tournament and then continued in the following years traveling from his home in North Carolina each year to participate. Funds raised are donated to youth programs in Malden.
