Anonymous Donor Replaces Malden Couple's Stolen Wedding Gifts

Police are still searching for a pair of burglars involved in a break-in on Broadway earlier this month.

MALDEN, MA — A Malden couple whose wedding gifts were stolen earlier this month had their presents replaced by an anonymous donor.

The donor, who only identified themselves as an Austin, Texas-based psychologist, credited Malden police officers with helping to facilitate the "massive" package delivery.

"As a psychologist, I say with certainty this is a traumatic event," the donor said in a statement shared on the Malden Police Department's social media pages. "The Malden Police Station personnel not only accepted the boxes delivered by Amazon, but also, they helped get the items to Ms. Irvin & her fiancé. Special warm hugs to Officer Rob O'Brien, for overseeing the entire project. Also sending hugs and a HUGE thanks to all of the fine officers, and support staff, who helped with the boxes."

Police are still searching for two people involved in the break-in on Broadway Aug. 2. The pair is accused of stealing thousands of dollars worth of gifts from a bridal shower, which were being stored at the home of the bride's parents.

The father of the bride told WHDH he went down to investigate a noise, but did not realize someone had broken in until the next day. The soon-to-be newlyweds were storing the gifts at the home of the bride's parents, where they plan to live once they are married.
