Here’s an uplifting turn of events for Malden firefighters - a press release from the office of Congresswoman Katherine Clark informs us that the Department will be awarded $272,964 to buy new breathing apparatuses from a federal grant.
“The Malden Fire Department is dedicated to our city and work tirelessly to keep our community safe,” said Clark, according to the statement. “This grant provides the necessary resources for critical safety equipment and I’m thrilled for Chief Colangeli and his team.”
The funds come from 2014 Assistance to Firefighters grants from the Federal Emergency Management Agencies, which will distribute more than $19 million among 76 departments nationwide.
