Malden Nonprofit Celebrates State Budget Funding
Triangle, Inc. aims to empower people with disabilities and their families through a variety of trainings, services and support programs.

MALDEN, MA — Malden-based Triangle Inc. will receive a boost this year thanks to $200,000 in funding in the state’s 2023 fiscal year budget.
With the budget now finalized and signed, Triangle leaders are celebrating the money, which will aim to support Triangle’s mission of empowering people with disabilities and their families.
“We have seen firsthand the impact that the pandemic has had on students with disabilities and the transition from academic environments into the workforce,” Triangle CEO Coleman Nee said in a recent press release. “These funds will help us to support these students as they explore their career goals and obtain dignified and fair employment opportunities.”

Triangle traces its history back to 1971 when local business owners banded together to found an organization focused on providing employment opportunities to people with disabilities in Medford, Malden, and Everett.
Triangle has since expanded, now operating a series of community homes while providing various trainings, services and support programs.

State Sen. Jason Lewis helped secure this funding for Triangle.
“Every person deserves to be treated with respect and dignity, and to have the opportunity to live up to their full potential,” he said last week. “I’m very pleased to have been able to assist Triangle with securing state funding that supports such an important and worthy program.”
The state legislature approved the FY2023 budget late last month. Gov. Charlie Baker then signed it into law after making a series of line item vetoes.
The budget included a series of other earmarks for the city of Malden and Malden-based organizations.
