Trucks, Music And More To Highlight Malden Summer Festival Finale

The festival will include a "truck pull" event where amateurs and professionals try their hand at pulling a 16,000-pound truck.

MALDEN, MA - Malden will wrap up its slate of Summer Festival programs on Saturday with a final Summer Festival in Malden Center.

The event will run from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., taking over Pleasant and Exchange Streets with an open-air market featuring artists and artisans, vintage clothing stores, a farmers market and more.

A stage at the corner of Washington and Pleasant Streets will showcase live music from a diverse lineup of bands.

The event will also introduce the “Big Rig Charity Gig,” which is put on by Total Performance Sports of Malden. That attraction will run from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Commonly known as a truck pull, the event will feature professionals and amateurs pulling a 16,000-pound truck.

“With minimal coaching, anyone can give it a try,” a city event announcement said this week.

Entry fees will go to charity, benefiting the Claddagh Fund and the Bread of Life.

The Claddagh Fund was founded by the Dropkick Murphys band and supports a number of individual charities. The Bread of Life is a Malden-based organization fighting food insecurity.

The area for Summer Festival programming is accessible by Orange Line. Free parking is also available at city garages at 170 Centre Street and 7 Jackson Street.
