The City of Malden is accepting applications for the following open positions:
Employment and Other Opportunities
- Malden Retirement Board - Administrative Assistant -- Working under the direction of the Retirement Board Director, responsibilities include daily involvement in administration of new members including set up of retiree files, processing forms, and set up in the database. Process member weekly retirement deductions from City of Malden payroll. Coordinate member forms upon termination or transfer to another retirement board, process member refunds, and transfer funds into or out of the retirement database. Prepare monthly expenditures and payments and coordinate weekly bank deposits with the City’s Treasury Department. Work with Director on special projects, preparation of correspondence. Assist Director with preparing agenda for monthly Retirement Board meetings. Assist in tracking bi-annual Retirement Affidavits. Complete other tasks as assigned by the Director. Pay rate: $48,000.
- Assistant Assessor-- The position requires an individual who can act as a technical specialist in the appraisal of real (residential, commercial and industrial) and personal property in compliance with Massachusetts Department of Revenue standards and guidelines. Pay rate: $72,302.99.
- Malden High School Principal -- Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have the following: -Hold or be eligible for Massachusetts Department of Education licensure as a principal. Pay rate: $135,000 -- $145,000.
- Heavy Motor Equipment Operator-- Works under the direct supervision of the DPW Director, Water Supervisor and/or Working Foreman to operate trucks with a rated capacity of more than 3 tons and up through 9 tons, including large tractors, dump trucks, etc. Loads and unloads trucks, picks up and hauls materials. Performs other minor preventative maintenance on equipment including some servicing on the job for certain special equipment. Operates snowplows, sanders and motor equipment of a lower level of difficulty as needed. Performs necessary duties for the repair and maintenance of the City’s water and sewer systems. Performs manual labor tasks and any other tasks deemed necessary by the Director, Supervisor and/or Working Foreman. Must be available for emergency calls beyond regular working hours as needed. Pay rate: $43,721.60.
- Part Time Traffic Supervisors (Crossing Guards) - Spare -- Provide safe crossing at crosswalks, as assigned, for pedestrians and students walking to and from school. Pay rate: $17.54 per hour.
- Part Time Parking/Meter Enforcement Officer -- Enforce parking regulations throughout the City of Malden. Must be able to work & alone and be responsible, dependable and flexible. Duties include but are not limited to: tags illegally parked vehicles; patrols streets and lots on foot and/or by car; identifies and tags improperly parked vehicles, vehicles in no parking zones, at expired meters, without permits in permit areas, in violation of the residential parking program. Checks parking meters for proper functioning and reports broken, vandalized or missing meters. Follows street sweeper to tag illegally parked vehicles during street cleaning schedule. Pay rate: $13.33 per hour.
