The 2018 Mansfield State Primary By The Numbers

Here are some numbers about Tuesday's vote in Mansfield.

MANSFIELD, MA — The 2018 Massachusetts Primary is in the books and while other parts of the state saw big upsets and races that are too close to call, it was a relatively quiet day in Mansfield.

Only 15.81 percent of registered voters in Mansfield chose to cast their ballot for the primary. Here are some numbers about the vote in Mansfield:

  • 2,653: The total amount of Mansfield residents who voted in Tuesday's election. It's an improvement over the 2016 primary which had few candidates and drew only 520 voters and 2014's 1,167.
  • 7: The number of contested races on both the Democratic and Republican ballots. Only both governor's races, the Democratic lieutenant governor's race, the Democratic congressional race, the Democratic secretary of state race, and the Republican attorney general's race had more than one candidate.
  • 1,436: The number of votes for Democratic Congressman Joseph Kennedy III. No other candidate in Mansfield received more votes. Lieutenant Governor Karen Polito got the most on the Republican side, netting 850 votes in her uncontested race.
  • 2: The number of elections that Mansfield has left. The polls will be open in October for some ballot questions that were approved a town meeting and the general election to start November. In total, there will be there elections in nine weeks.

Voters will be asked to return to the polls for the ballot questions Oct. 16. The general election is Nov. 6.
