Attleboro Man at Large after Grand Theft Auto at Canoe River
Jose Silvestre still active after stealing a vehicle from the Canoe River Campgrounds.
An Attleboro man was arrested on Monday after he stole a Foxborough man’s vehicle.
Jose Silvestre, 38, of Attleboro was issued a summons arrest on Monday for larceny of a motor vehicle and felony larceny. The owner of the vehicle called and said that 30 minutes prior to the call, Silvestre had stolen his 2004 Kia Optima from the Canoe River Campgrounds.
Operations lieutenant Samuel Thompson Jr. said that Silvestre was knew the caller.

“He told the [The car’s owner] that he was going out to smoke a cigarette and he just took his car and left,” Thompson said. “The guy who owned the car knew him, and said he had a drug problem.
The caller stated that Silvestre had planned to drive to Providence, Rhode Island, to pawn the contents of the vehicle, which included a laptop, cell phone and other items.

A BOLO(be on the lookout) advisory was posted to the Providence Police in the area where Silvestre was known to purchase narcotics.
Thompson said that a summons arrest was issued for Silvestre but, to his knowledge, he has not yet been apprehended. He added that the vehicle was entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database as stolen.
