Mansfield High School Cleared By Police After Threatening Call

MANSFIELD, MA — Police have searched and cleared Mansfield High School after received a call from an unknown male reporting a shooting Tuesday morning, the Mansfield Police Department said in a news release.

The call to the school came during a period during which there has been an increase in similar "swatting" calls in other Massachusetts cities and towns, some happening simultaneously, police said.

"School Resource Officers Ken Wright and Derek McCune, already in the schools, immediately went to work verifying with school staff and on-site video systems that there was no imminent threat to the student body," Mansfield Police said. "As additional officers arrived within minutes at the high school, the building was searched and eventually cleared."
